HOUSE OF THE TEJERINAS

Pictorical expo "songs of the soul" by e.wasserhase (evelyn kortum)

German artist 'e.wasserhase' (Evelyn Kortum) exhibits her new art collection 'Songs of the Soul' in Las Tejerinas

The art exhibition will be open to the public from April 16 to 30, with free admission.

The Estepona City Council informs that Room 1 of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores, will host from April 16th, an art exhibition by Evelyn Kortum, a German artist known as e.wasserhase.

The exhibition, titled 'Soul Songs,' comprises 33 works: 16 paintings and 17 sculptures. As in previous exhibitions, the pieces are made from natural materials, such as stones and tree bark, which the artist then paints. She also uses other supports, including fishing nets, wooden panels, ceramics, and metal.

The exhibition can be visited until April 30, from Tuesday to Friday, from 09:00 to 20:00, and Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00, with free admission.

EVELYN KORTUM, aka e.wasserhase, is a Hamburg-born artist who harmoniously combines organic materials with intricate point-based painting techniques.

Her art is deeply influenced by Aboriginal and ethnic styles and is characterized by the use of reclaimed natural elements, such as palm or eucalyptus bark, palm leaves, or branches, which she transforms into unique, sculpture-like pieces. These creations are often adorned with thousands of tiny dots, reflecting her meditative and mindful approach to artistic creation.

She has traveled extensively, lived in England, France, and Switzerland, and now resides in Portugal. She brings a Southern European sensibility to her work, and her background in psychology, along with her practices in energy work, meditation, tai chi, and yoga, profoundly influence her artistic process. She views each piece as a fusion of natural form and spiritual expression, aiming to create art from "rejected" pieces of nature that embody both beauty and mindfulness.

e.wasserhase has been featured in several magazines in the Eastern Algarve and on Artsyshark. Together with her husband, she has created a book titled "Songs for Mother Nature" (Amazon), which combines her passion for painting and poetry. She has exhibited her work in the Algarve and Andalusia. In May 2023, she exhibited "The Journey of My Soul" at Casa de Las Tejerinas, and the following September she returned to the same venue with "A Million Dots."
